Originally featured on Brad Cartner’s pod show Sick Man Talking, these episodes are now collected here in an organized, easier-to-follow format, which is ironic given the content. New episodes will continue to appear both here and on Sick Man Talking, assuming nothing goes catastrophically wrong. In 2006, Brad bought a retired Ontario Provincial Police cruiser under questionable circumstances from a used car lot that should not have been open. That moment didn’t just give him a vehicle, it gave him a role - altering the trajectory of thousands of lives, none of them for the better.
He became Fake Cop - and the ongoing decline of Newmarket, Ontario, is widely considered to have started that day.
What follows is a crime series - but not a traditional one. It unfolds like fractured mythology: a fever dream of surreal worlds and escalating events, moving from suburban Canada to Los Angeles and beyond. Many have passed through these streets, but most didn’t make it out. I guess they had it comin’. Don’t we all?
This is Fake Cop.
